Please consider becoming a Cuyahoga County Democratic Party Precinct Committee Leader as a write – in candidate. As a write – in candidate you do not need to get signatures to get on the ballot. All you need to do is fill out the form linked below and either mail it or deliver it to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections ( 2925 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44115 ). The filing deadline for write – in candidates is February 22. If you are mailing the form please write Attention: Candidate and Petition Services underneath the address and make sure you mail it with more than enough time to get it there by the 22nd. If you end up on the ballot as a write – in candidate with no opponent all you have to do is write your name in and you win!

Note: You need to fill out the top part where it says Name of Candidate and your address. You do not need to put in a date where it says term commencing. You do however have to put in your community, ward and precinct in the part after that which says to identify the state, district or county of the office you are seeking. The only other thing you need to do is sign at the bottom of the form.

What is a Precinct Committee Leader / Central Committee Member?

Are you interested in making the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party more dynamic and Progressive? Are you interested in preventing a fascist takeover of our country by the Republicans in 2022 and 2024? If the answer to those two questions is yes, please consider running for Precinct Committee Leader / Central Committee Member in your precinct this year.

In the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party (CCDP), the Precinct Leader and the Central Committee Member are in the same position. Central Committee Members in the CCDP have two main responsibilities. 1) Get out the vote in your precinct at election time and 2) Elect a CCDP Party Chair for a four year term beginning in the summer of 2022. We are hopeful that we will find a progressive party chair candidate that CCPC Central Committee members can support when this election takes place next summer. We know that many of you are devoted activists and did everything you could to fight the Trump Regime between 2017 and 2021. If you’re following the news you know that this fight is not yet over. Getting Democrats to turn out and vote in 2022 and 2024 is vitally important to saving us from a Trump return to power.

There are two links below. The first link is to a video of last May’s CCPC Membership meeting where we described our role in party politics and the precinct committee project in some detail. The second link is to a website for a coalition CCPC is part of called “Build Back Cuyahoga”, which includes a form which we’re asking you to fill out if you decide to run.
